Since we have once again reincced and some of us are taking 120 tactics and will be becoming battle commanders, I would like to give some pointers on how to do it succesfully.
First of all, manual battles! Sure you get a lot of spam by requests but it enables you to filter our regiment in. Also F5 will bring up your messages-window, learn to take advantage of the speed of quick keys!
As a general rule, always allow regimates into your battle and filter the anonymous people out. However, there are few exeptions.
If you want to fish out enemy, do not let anyone in until enemy has sufficient reins and you can safely expect that they will fill up. Proper way of doing this is inform on regi channel that you are fishing, and stop checking your messages. On the other hand if you need few more people in, you can allow them and reject rest. Regiment will understand being rejected during fishing.
When you start letting people in, be aware of the amount of players regiment has online and allow them in first. Once all from regiment available are in, start allowing anonymous portal requests.
Why only portal requests? reining from portal allows you quick reinforcement whereas those from afar don't do anything for battle until they arrive (also some regiless and unskilled people are looking for easy battles they can get in from capital). And last but certainly not least aspect is that your enemy might cut you, and all those who are joining from afar will lose the time they have spent moving toward your battle, they have to start walking and uncutting you and they cannot join the battle after dust has settled.
Keep an close eye to map, and see if you're about to be cut. Do not be in despair, most often you will be uncut again if you're in a good battle. But if you are about to be cut, you might want to allow portal requests in.
If the battle is even, lets say you have ~70 PR and enemy has 75, then you might want to keep 1 spot open and see if a regimate gets available and comes reinforcing you. Also since our regiment is fairly skilled in attacks, you can expect that we are able to win easy battles (odd poc attacks) even with slightly lower odds. The Odds Favor Us after all. Defensive battles and victory maps are much more important to get filled in proper amount of time.
Then a few courtesy issues: If someone asks whether it's ok to requests, please try to answer them, most people understand when you are filtering for regiment. Not answering their requests (whether it's accept or reject) is quite rude.
Occasionally you will accidentally/deliberately steal BC from someone else. If this is from another regiment, inform them that you will allow portal requests so we don't separate their regiment operations.
